Day 1 : City Sightseeing in Chamonix: First Visit

It's your first time in Chamonix, you could stroll  down town and admire the beautiful St Michael church. Visit the Alpine Museum and Crystals Museum in order to get familiar with the surrounding mountains. Lunch at Planpraz sheep pen, enjoy the view or head to La Calèche. By afternoon, it's time to meet the highest peak in Europe : the famous Mont Blanc at 4810 metres. From Chamonix you will arrive there in about 20 minutes via  the Aiguille du Midi by cable car. At 3812 metres, the view of the majestuous mountain and its eternal snow is nothing short of breath taking. For the sporty at heart; you may care attach the skis, moon boots or snowshoes and enjoy some quality time on the slopes.

Day 2 : Excursions & Walks to Megève

This famous ski resort is just a 40 minute drive from Chamonix, giving you the opportunity to taste the latest ski trends. You may care to stroll around the medieval centre and perhaps push a little further to reach the calvaire, one of the village’s attractions. Ramblings accessible to anyone provide access to great areas on the Mont d’Arbois and the Croix des salles. After a refined lunch at Flocon de sel or  La table du trappeur, you will be ready for an afternoon of shopping. Choose between sportswear or up market clothing stores. A true Megevan day !

Day 3 : Winter Sports

The birth place of mountaineering; Chamonix is the place to be for all mountain activities, particularly skiing. If you have chosen it for your winter holidays, enjoy cruising the largest ski slopes in Haute Savoie, and spread across various mountains. For skiing in front of Mont Blanc choose the Brevent and Flegere areas for a sun drenched daytime session. The experienced skier may choose to ride the Grands Montets Cable car and reach  3200 metres. Hit the 2000 metre ski slope along the Argentiere glacier....A little further on, we can find Houches area and its famous “Green” track used during the Alpine Skiing World Cup.For the extreme skier, the Vallée Blanche is tremendous  but it requires a guide in order to fully appreciate the journey.

Day 4 : Summer Sports

Even in Summer, Chamonix offers many opportunities for recreation. Choose from an abundance of walking tracks to satisfy your desire to wander. Argentière, Les Houches or Vallorcine provide good starting points. Perhaps you may care to choose bike riding. For the thrill seekers, paragliding gives an amazing opportunity to discover the landscapes. Tired of looking at mountains? Relax in the village and enjoy the swimming pool, the ice rink, tennis court or golf course… or rejuvenate your tired aching muscles at the Deep Nature Spa. In the evening, try the casino  for a little idle entertainment; who knows, you might get lucky!

Alternatives in Chamonix depending on the weather

Day 5 : On an icy-cold day

In the event of of bad weather, visit the Cristals museum and the Alpine museum to understand the mountains history. Relax at the Deep Nature Spa. You could also visit the Pierre Gianadda Foundation in Martigny, Switzerland. Just 45 minutes from Chamonix.
