Transportation
Airport connections
The international airport of Cairo is in about twenty kilometers of the center of Cairo. Taxis will transport you up to the city center in one hour.
Subway
Only two lines of metro are currently working for the moment. In the rush hours, trains are very busy. The subway remains the most economic way to travel in the city. Please note that the first two cars are reserved for the women, the following ones are mixed.
Bus
Buses are generally crowed too. We advise you to use minibuses, such as shuttle, managed by private companies. Circulation is faster and you might more easily have a seat on board.

Visa
No compulsory vaccine, however it is strictly recommended to avoid eating neither raw vegetables nor tap water due to the risk of disease.
A valid visa for 1 month costs 25€ (Consulates of Egypt). You can also buy a stamp by arriving at the airport for approximately 12€.

Banks are closed on Friday and Saturday and schedules change during Ramadan (from August 22nd till September 17th, 2009).
It is recommend respecting local custom by covering you that is by avoiding shorts, miniskirts, dockers and low necklines.
