The Duomo, major symbol of the city; Milan’s cathedral is one of Italy’s most remarkable Gothic monuments, with its spires bristling upwards. Visit the top for a view over the city. Just a few steps from the Duomo, enter the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, where you will find an abundance of cafés, bars, bookshops and clothing outlets all lined up. Just like Verdi (in his time), have lunch at Zucca or at Savini.  This luxurious neoclassical gallery is covered with a splendid glass roof. Press on and head towards La Scala, Italy’s most famous theater.
