In practice in Rome
When to go
We tend to favour mid-season, when the temperature is pleasant and the there are not too many tourists. Avoid August when many Romans leave the city and numerous businesses are closed. In winter, as night falls quicker, monuments close earlier.

Driving in Rome
There are many places tohire cars, motorbikes, vespas and bikes in Rome (minimum age 21). However driing here is not often pleasant due to traffic, pollution and the heat. Cars are often stationary along the main roads due to cars blocking the crossroads, and along the backstreets where there are no pavements you will have to zig zag around parked cars.
Museums and tourism
There are two types of pass on offer.
1. The Roma Pass : 23€. This gives the holder free access to 2 museums / archeological sites, then price reductions for further visits and shows. It also covers the cost of transport;
2. The Roma & Più Pass : For 25€, make the most of the same advantages of the Roma pass but with the added bonus of access to the suburbs.
